This one day professional meeting is aimed at those working within both Local Government and the Private Sector. It will provide rating practitioners with all that they need to know in advance of the demand notices being sent out by billing authorities for 2017/18.
The meeting will be delivered by David Magor OBE IRRV (Hons) and Gary Watson IRRV (Hons), Deputy Chief Executive.
It will be a practical day with delegates having the opportunities to discuss all that is happening in the world of rating.
In addition to focussing on the revaluation and all the associated changes that arise as a result (i.e. transition, small business relief, discretionary reliefs etc.), the Autumn Statement delivered by the new Chancellor will be covered. There will be an update on where we are with rate retention, a look at recent case law and a status report on avoidance / evasion.
With the rating system as we know it today subject to considerable change over the coming years, David and Gary will share their views on what is likely to happen … and what they would like to see happen. They will also take the opportunity to address a number of areas within non-domestic rate that are often misunderstood or misinterpreted.
The course starts at 10.00am following teas and coffees from 09.30 and finishes at 4.30pm unless otherwise stated. Lunch and refreshments are provided during the day.

PROGRAMME CHANGES AND CANCELLATION / RESCHEDULING OF EVENTS
The Institute will make every effort to give delegates as much notice as possible of any programme changes or the cancellation / re-scheduling of an event. However, it does reserve the right to make changes to advertised programmes and to cancel / re-schedule events. In the unlikely event of an event being cancelled / re-scheduled, either a full refund will be made or alternatively, any fee paid will be credited against a future booking. The Institute will not be liable for any travel and / or accommodation costs incurred by the attendee should an event be cancelled / re-scheduled.
On receipt of the registration form with purchase order number the IRRV will issue a receipted VAT invoice at the prevailing rate. Payment must be received in advance of the event. The Institute reserves the right to refuse admission where delegate fees have not been paid.
Cancellations made 2 weeks before the meeting will be subject to an administration charge of 50% of the fee plus VAT. Cancellations after this date are liable for the full registration fee. A substitute delegate is welcome at any time at no extra charge.
