Alan Bronte FRICS IRRV (Hons)
Alan Brontë is the Commissioner of Valuation for Northern Ireland, Director of Valuation, and a Management Board member of the NI Government’s Land & Property Services (LPS). He was appointed Commissioner of Valuation for Northern Ireland in 2008. As Commissioner he is statutorily responsible for the capital value domestic rating List with 795,000 properties and the non-domestic NAV based business rate List with 74,000 properties. He is responsible for providing leadership, driving innovation and delivering efficiency within the Valuation Service. His business unit also provides a comprehensive valuation, estate management and property advice service to the public sector in Northern Ireland – delivering services such as compensation for compulsory acquisition, asset valuations, national taxation, and acquisitions and disposals.
Alan is an assessor for the Boundary Commission for Northern Ireland. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Council Member of the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation and a Member of the International Association of Assessing Officers. Alan is a member of the Steering Committee on Harmonisation (Practice & Procedure) UK & Ireland. An experienced Valuer with over 35 years’ experience within the Government valuation service, Alan is the Head of Profession in the Northern Ireland Civil Service for the valuation discipline.
Alan is a widely known local, national and international conference speaker in his field. In recent years Alan has delivered papers at the Commonwealth Heads of Valuation Agencies (CHOVA) conferences in Toronto and Scotland, and spoken at the World Bank Land & Poverty Conference in Washington DC
